A new FREE event for all the family is coming to Blackpool this Summer
Bring the family along and enjoy a day of fantastic entertainment on the Waterloo Headland, South Shore (opposite McDonalds) with live acts performing on stage including bands, drummers, dance groups and not forgetting our Central to South Pier Parade lead by our Carnival Queen. Blackpool International Carnival has been organised by the local community to celebrate the diverse cultures in and around Blackpool.
Thanks to Lottery funding and the community we are excited to announce Blackpool’s first International Carnival! This will be the start of an annual event, growing year on year as have other Carnivals. Manchester Caribbean Carnival now attracts an audience of more than 6,000,000.
“Although we would like to attract lots of visitors, to both this years and future years’ Carnivals, taking part in and organising the event is for us, for Blackpool people,” says Susanne Johnson, Chair of the South Beach Beacons which forms a large part of the organising group.
“South Beach Beacons are involved in the organisation of the Carnival and in the successful application to secure this funding from the Lottery as part of our improvement activities for the South Beach area. Susanne went on to add “We hope to bring people to this area of Blackpool to invigorate it, but also to gather people from both this area and the other areas of Blackpool to boost community spirit and local pride.”
We are inviting all Blackpool schools, children’s groups, sports groups, adult organisations and even businesses to enter a troop into the Carnival Parade which will go, on foot from the Central to the South
We are also inviting all musicians or musical groups to join in and play at the central stage on the Waterloo Road Headland. The Carnival will have an International flavour representing the culture of many of the people now living in Blackpool and the North of England from other cultures.
Regular trams will run every 10 minutes to our event locations, with heritage trams running every 20 minutes.
Various food and beverage stalls will be located around the main event area on The Waterloo Headland.
Both the Parade route and the main event areas are level access. There is also an accessible viewing area and toilet facilities.
